In connection with the Silver Jubilee Celebration programme, BSNLEU, West Bengal Circle organised a trade union class on the topic “Role of the Working Class in the Freedom Struggle of the Country” at CTO Building on 21.05.2026. Com. Somnath Bhattacharya, Vice President, CITU, West Bengal, was the main speaker for the session. He elaborately explained the role played by the trade union movement and the working class during British rule. Considering the present situation in the country, he also emphasised the need to strengthen communal harmony and ideological unity among the working class to safeguard their right and class interests. At the outset, Com. Sujoy Sarkar, Circle Secretary, explained the importance for conducting such type of trade union classes. The session turned out to be highly educative for the circle office bearers and district secretaries who participated from different districts and towns across the state. Com. Asish Das, Circle Secretary, AIBDPA and Com. Tapas Gosh, Circle Secretary, BSNLCMU, also addressed the gathering. The programme was presided over by Com. Imran Khan, President of the Circle Union.
BSNLEU met Shri A. Robert J. Ravi, CMD BSNL, yesterday the 21.05.2026, and discussed some of the burning issues of the employees. Com.Animesh Mitra, General Secretary and Com.P.Abhimanyu, Vice President, participated in the meeting and held detailed discussions as given below:-
Details of the discussionsThe DoT has finally issued the order for payment of IDA w.e.f. 01.01.2026. Today morning, Com. Animesh Mitra, General Secretary and Com. P. Abhimanyu, Vice President (CHQ), met Shri S.P. Singh, PGM(Estt.), for discussion on some burning issues. During the discussion, Shri S.P. Singh informed that the file has been cleared and the IDA arrear can now be paid along with this month’s salary. This is a major victory for the united and sustained struggle of the Executives and Non-Executives against the anti-worker stand of the government. Due to continuous pressure and agitational programmes conducted by the All Unions and Associations (AUAB), the DPE was compelled to remove the para 5, for the IDA payment w.e.f. 01.04.2026.
View orderOn 19th evening, the AUAB leadership met Shri J. Robert Ravi, CMD BSNL, and discussed several burning issues concerning employees and the Organisation. During the meeting, the leadership strongly demanded payment of IDA w.e.f. 01.01.2026. CMD BSNL informed that the matter is being actively pursued with DoT to ensure payment of the IDA arrears along with this month’s salary. The AUAB leadership also raised the serious issue of manhandling of a JTO in Gujarat Circle and demanded stringent action against the TIP involved. Other important issues discussed included release of pending Kashmir Valley allowance, settlement of Tamil Nadu and Chennai issues and the need for a formal meeting by CMD BSNL with Unions and Associations to update them on the Management’s action plan for the growth and development of BSNL and resolution of HR issues. CMD BSNL listened to the concerns raised by the leadership and assured that necessary action would be taken on all the issues discussed.
The circular related to the decisions and future course of action of the online Central Secretariat meeting held on 17.05.2026 has already been issued by CHQ. All CEC members are requested to take appropriate action for effective implementation of the decisions at circle and district levels. The circular has been shared with CEC members through WhatsApp and hard copies have been sent to the District Secretaries by post.
CHQ received many representations from circles requesting extension of the time limit for processing of e-APARs for “Executive & Non-Executive” employees of BSNL through the ESS Portal for FY 2025-26. Accordingly, Corporate Office has issued a notification on 18.05.2026 extending the last date for processing of e-APARs up to 30.05.2026. Corporate Office letter is attached herewith.
View letterBSNL and MTNL pensioners, under the banner of the joint platform (CBMPA), organised a massive dharna on 20.05.2026 at Eastern Court, New Delhi, protesting against the government’s move to freeze IDA arrears from 01.01.2026. AUAB extended full solidarity and support to the struggle for IDA arrears and pension revision. Com. Animesh Mitra, Convenor, AUAB and Com. Chandeshwar Singh, Chairman, AUAB, attended the dharna with the members of AUAB and addressed the gathering. The pensioners also joined the “Protest Chain” organised by AUAB members at the same premises. AUAB units across various circles also participated in local dharna programmes in support of the pensioners’ struggle.
All Unions and Associations of BSNL (AUAB) is seriously pursuing with the BSNL Management and DoT to ensure payment of IDA arrears along with this month’s salary. As part of the ongoing agitational programme conducted across the country during the last three months, the Protest Chain programme was organised successfully today in BSNL offices and exchanges throughout the country. Simultaneously, AUAB also mobilised regular employees to participate in the dharna programme organised by pensioners demanding settlement of the same issue.
