Shri Phunchok Dorjey, the General Manager of Ludhiana, who was indulging in sexual harassment of women employees, has finally been shunted out of Ludhiana. He is transferred and is posted in the Punjab CGM Office at Chandigarh. All are aware that, BSNLEU has strongly been demanding action against Shri Phunchok Dorjey and has organised many agitational programmes. It is not the question of action against a particular General Manager, but it is the issue of safeguarding the dignity of working women in BSNL. BSNLEU fought to safeguard the dignity of women employees. But, it is a matter of regret that, leaders of some organisations actively supported Shri Phunchok Dorjey. It is obvious that the Corporate Management hesitated to take appropriate action on Shri Phunchok Dorjey, due to the reasons best known to them. Nevertheless, BSNLEU welcomes this belated action and thanks the Management for the same.

The officers to be sacked include those from the Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa and Haryana circles, namely Gopi Chand Tolwani, Rajesh Bansal, Pradip Kumar Saha, Asheesh Pathak, Chandragupta Bidika and Suresh Kumar. Similarly, in 2017, Gupta, working as an additional general manager of Microwave Project at Bhubaneswar was caught while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs1 lakh from a contractor.

The BSNL Management has arbitrarily issued the Sports Compendium 2022. No discussion is held with the Recognised Unions. It was not discussed in the Sports Board meeting also. Already there is a Career Progression Policy introduced in 2008. Eligible officials have not been given promotion in accordance with the 2008 Policy. All of a sudden, the Management has introduced another Policy which has a lot of lapses. Hence, BSNLEU has written letter to the CMD BSNL, demanding to keep the Compendium 2022 pending and to hold discussion with the Recognised Unions for the finalisation of the new Policy.
