BSNLEU has continuously been demanding that, the 227 RMs of ETP (CNTxE) should be issued with TSM status retrospectively. These 227 officials should have been issued with TSM status before the formation of BSNL. However, due to the lapse on the part of the administration, TSM status was not issued to them. Under these circumstances, the Hon'ble Calcutta High court had directed the DoT to consider their case. BSNL EU has also been demanding strongly that all the 227  RMs should be issued with TSM status retrospectively and based on that they should be issued with Presidential Orders also. Under these circumstances, the CHQ has learned that, the DoT has taken decision against issuing TSM status to the 227 RMs.

CHQ has already requested the circle secretaries to send the district wise particulars of the strike held on 16.02.2024. Many circle secretaries have not sent the details so far. Hence, once again CHQ calls upon those circle secretaries to send the strike particulars latest by tomorrow evening.  

BSNLEU has written a letter to the Director (HR) today, requesting to grand a Formal Meeting for discussing certain important issues of the Non-Executives. BSNLEU has also given the list of issues on which the Formal Meeting is being sought. Copy of the letter and the list of issues are enclosed.

The letter written by BSNLEU to the Hon’ble Minister of Communications, demanding to allow BSNL to provide 4G service to it’s customers, by utilising the network of Vodafone Idea, has received wide coverage in the national media. We have already reported the coverage made by Economic Times. Times of India, which is the leading newspaper of India, has also made wide coverage about the issue raised by BSNLEU, through its letter written to the Hon’ble Minister of Communications. Recently, BSNLEU has written letter to Shri Ashwini Vaishnav, Hon’ble Minister for Communications, requesting him to take steps for allowing BSNL to launch its 4G service immediately, by utilising the network of Vodafone Idea. In a landmark judgement delivered on 15.02.2024, the Supreme Court has struck down the Electoral Bonds Scheme implemented by the Narendra Modi government. A five-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India, D.Y. Chandrachud, stated that “contributions made by companies under Electoral Bonds Scheme are purely business transactions made with the intent of the securing benefits in return.” The judgement has stated that “political funding through Electoral Bonds promoted corruptions. It is also done for favour to be returned by the ruling party by way of policy changes or getting licenses”, noted the judgement. Undoubtedly, the system of Electoral Bonds has enabled the big corporates to give political donations to the ruling party for getting massive benefits from the government. BSNLEU welcomes this judgement of the Supreme Court.

BSNLEU has issued the following press statement to the media, in connection with the one day strike organised by the Union, demanding settlement of important issues.

BSNLEU has given call for organising a one day strike today the 16.02.2024, demanding settlement of the issues of Wage Revision, BSNL’s 4G & 5G, New Promotion Policy, Review of the Restructuring and other demands. Reports being received by the CHQ show that the strike has been successfully organised in all parts of the country. CHQ conveys it’s revolutionary greetings to all the circle and district unions which have organised the strike successfully and also to the employees who have participated in the strike.
