The AUAB has once again written to the Secretary, Telecom, demanding for a meeting, to discuss about the issues contained in the charter of demands of the AUAB. This letter is in continuation of the letter already written on 23.03.2019. It is obvious that the DoT is avoiding any discussion with the AUAB. However, the AUAB will continue to take efforts for settlement of the issues.
On the issue of pension revision to BSNL retirees, the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare has raised certain queries from the DoT. However, the DoT has not given any reply so far. The AUAB has written to the Secretary, Telecom, demanding to reply to the queries raised by DoP&PW without further delay.
According to the resolution passed in the 9th All India Conference of BSNLEU, the union has already demanded that the BSNL Recognition of Non-Executives’ Unions and Representation in the Councils Rules, 2012, should be modified, so that the 2nd union can also get recognition, even if the 1st union secures 50% or more votes. Even though, it is already more than 4 months since the demand is raised by BSNLEU, the Management has not taken any action. BSNLEU has once again written to the CMD BSNL, demanding to modify the BSNL Recognition of Non-Executives’ Unions and Representation in the Councils Rules, 2012, before the process for the 8th Membership Verification starts.
Cyclone ‘Fani’ has caused extensive damage to 14 out of the 30 districts of Odisha circle. Employees of these districts are severely affected. BSNLEU has written to the CMD BSNL, demanding allotment of sufficient funds for the restoration of the services, as well as relief to the affected employees.
The negotiations for settlement of wage revision of the Non-Executives has been stalled by the BSNL Management. The last meeting of the Joint Committee for wage negotiation was held on 09th October, 2018. Repeated requests of the Recognised Unions, to resume the negotiations is being ignored by the BSNL Management. Hence, BSNLEU and NFTE have jointly written to the Secretary, Telecom, demanding to give direction to the BSNL Management, to resume the negotiations.
BSNLEU and NFTE BSNL have already written to the BSNL Management, demanding that the process for the 8th Membership Verification should start immediately, and it should not be postponed. However, the Management has not taken any action so far. Under these circumstances, BSNLEU and NFTE BSNL have written to the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), requesting him to intervene in this matter and to ensure the immediate holding of the 8th Membership Verification.
The General Secretary, BSNLEU, has written to Shri S.K. Gupta, Director (Finance), about the non-payment of wages to the contract workers for the past 4 months. The General Secretary has pointed out that the families of the contract workers are facing starvation and has urged upon the Director (Finance) to arrange to release funds for the payment.
