A meeting was held at Gorakhpur BA on 23.01.2026 under the chairmanship of Com. Rahul Rai and presided over by Com. Anand Singh, AGS, BSNLEU. Com. Tilak Raj Tiwari, Circle Secretary, UP (East) Circle, addressed the meeting and spoke in detail on the General Strike scheduled to be held on 12th February, the review process and important organisational matters. Com. Rajnandan Gupta, District Secretary, Deoria, also addressed the gathering. District Secretaries from Mau and Basti participated and shared their views. The meeting concluded successfully, and thanks were expressed to all the comrades.
A meeting of the General Secretaries and representatives of the Unions and Associations was held on 20.01.2026 at the AIGETOA Office, during which all participants expressed satisfaction over the approval of the Wage Agreement in the Management Committee and Remuneration Committee meetings. The forum decided to halt the future course of action for the time being. However, to continue pressure on the management, it was resolved to submit a letter to the CMD, BSNL, urging early recommendation of the Wage Agreement to the DoT, and also seeking settlement of the Chennai–Tamil Nadu issue through the transfer of CGM, Tamil Nadu/Chennai and GM (HR), Chennai & Tamil Nadu. The forum will also attempt to have a courtesy meeting with the newly appointed Secretary, DoT. Further, it was decided to take positive and active efforts to prepare a memorandum for submission to Members of Parliament, requesting them to raise the issue of relaxation of the Affordability Clause in the forthcoming Parliament Session, likely to commence on 1st February 2026. The future course of action will be decided in the next meeting of the Unions and Associations, likely to be held on 03.02.2026 at the SNEA Office, Eastern Court.
The Uttarakhand Circle Union organised a successful BA Level Convention on 18.01.2026 at the Dehradun Telephone Exchange, in response to the CHQ call for BA-level conventions. The convention was presided over by Com. J. P. Kothari, Senior leader, AIBDPA. Com. K. S. Soun, President, BSNLEU, welcomed the participants and explained the relevance of the convention. Com. Devendra Bisht, Circle Secretary, highlighted the achievements of CHQ regarding the Wage Agreement and raised concerns over the Labour Codes. Com. Kishorilal Chamoli, District Secretary, spoke on staff issues and urged workers to strengthen the organisation. Com.Animesh Mitra, General Secretary, greeted the workers for attending the convention despite the winter season and a holiday, stating that their participation reflected strong faith in the organisation. He elaborated on the role of CHQ in obtaining approval of the wage agreement from both the Management Committee and the Remuneration Committee, while cautioning that close monitoring is still required to secure Board approval. He also outlined the future roadmap for the struggle to secure relaxation of the affordability clause, which has become a major obstacle to the implementation of the 3rd PRC in BSNL. Further, he called upon the workers to actively participate in the struggles of the Central Trade Unions, including the nationwide strike on 12th February 2026. He also explained the attacks on pensioners by the Central Government following the introduction of the Pension Amendment Bill, 2025. The convention concluded with a resolve to strengthen the organisation and ensure victory in the forthcoming Membership Verification (MV) in the Uttarakhand Circle.
The Andaman and Nicobar Circle Union successfully conducted a well-attended BA Level Convention at Port Blair on 21.01.2026. The convention was presided over by Com.M. Rajendran, President, BSNLEU. Com.S.P. Kalairajan, Circle Secretary, BSNLEU, presented the circle report for discussion. He explained in detail the present status of wage revision in BSNL, the ongoing protest actions against the four labour codes, the proposed General Strike on 12th February 2026 and the serious issue of retrenchment of contract workers. It was also decided that the Circle Union will take the initiative to hold its next Circle Conference in the month of February, with the concurrence of the General Secretary. At the conclusion of the discussion, the house unanimously approved the report submitted by the Circle Secretary. Com.Chithranjan Biswas, Assistant Circle Secretary, proposed the vote of thanks, and the convention concluded successfully.
In response to the CHQ call to organise BA-Level Conventions, the J&K Circle Union took the initiative to hold a BA-Level Convention at Jammu on 21st January, 2026 with good participation of BSNLEU members. The convention was attended by Com.S.K.Moja, District President, Com.M.S.Reen, District Secretary, BSNLEU Jammu, Com.Ghulam Qadir Dandroo, District Secretary, BSNLEU, Srinagar and Com.Krishan Lal, Circle Secretary, J&K Circle. The meeting was presided over by Com.S. K. Moja, District President. Com.M. S.Reen, DS, Jammu and Com.Ghulam Qadir Dandroo, DS, Srinagar, addressed the gathering and highlighted organisational and staff-related issues. Com.Krishan Lal, CS, J&K circle, explained important issues such as wage revision, membership verification, the four labour codes, the Pension Validation Act, and the call for the nationwide general strike on 12th February, 2026 against the anti-worker labour codes. The convention concluded with a resolve to strengthen the organisation and actively participate in the programme.
