India can make Chandrayaan to land at the specified location on Moon, but cannot stop gruesome train accidents..
On 17-06-2024, a tragic train accident has taken place in West Bengal, involving the Kanchanjunga express and a goods train. 10 people were killed and around 40 people were injured. Among the killed, two are railway employees, one was an RMS employee and the remaining 7 were passengers. BSNLEU expresses its profound sorrow over the accident. Initially, the driver of the goods train, who was killed in the accident, was made the scapegoat for this accident. The Railway authorities accused that, the driver of the goods train was responsible for the accident. However, subsequently, the Railway department admitted that, the accident had taken place due to the non-functioning of the “Automatic Signaling System”. One year ago, i.e, on 02-06-2024, another gruesome train accident took place in Balasore district of Odisha state. In that accident, three trains.,viz., Coromandel express, Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast train and a goods train were involved. A whopping 296 people were killed in that accident and 1,200 people were injured. After investigation, the Railway department admitted that, an error in the “Electronic Signal System”, was the reason behind the accident. Around nine years ago, the government appointed Bibek Debroy committee to improve the Indian Railways. However, as per the committee’s recommendations, the Indian railways is being privatised in parts. Today, the Indian scientists can make the Chandrayaan to land exactly at a specified location on the Moon. India is having that much technological capability. However, it is a tragedy that, the government is unable to stop gruesome train accidents.
