Implement Hon'ble Supreme Court order on contract workers- BSNLEU writes letter to the Director(HR)..

BSNL Management is outsourcing a substantial part of its works to private contractors. The private contractors, who engage contract workers to carry out these works, do not implement any Labour law related to Minimum Wage, Social Securities, etc. Under these circumstances, the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India has delivered judgement on 20-12-2024, in the case of  temporary employees engaged for cleaning and sweeping works in the Central Water Commission.  In it’s judgement, the Hon’ble Supreme Court has categorically pointed out that, the government institutions are supposed to uphold the principles of fairness and justice and they have greater responsibility in avoiding exploitative employment practices. In the light of the judgement of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, BSNLEU has written a letter to the Director(HR) today, requesting to ensure implementation of the Labour Laws, related to Minimum Wage, EPF, ESI etc., for the contract workers working in BSNL's outsourced works. BSNLEU has also requested the Director(HR) to fix an early meeting, to discuss the exploitations being meted out to the contract workers.
