German train drivers on strike, demanding pay increase and less working hours.

The GDL, which is the union of the German train drivers has started a strike at 2 am yesterday, the 10th January, 2024. The strike will go on till 5 pm tomorrow the 12th January, 2024. The German railway workers have organised many strikes in the year 2023. In 2024 also, their strike is continuing. Their main demands are:-

1. Reduction of working hours from 38 to 35 hours per week without corresponding cut in pay. 
2. Monthly pay increase of euro 555 (₹50,428)
3. Inflation compensation bonus.

German working class is demanding only 35 hours of work per week. But, in India, corporates like Narayana Murthy are telling that, Indian workers should work for 70 hours per week. The Modi government has changed the Labour Laws, denying the right to go on strike.
