Who are those opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA)?

Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has said, “look at the dress of the people who are protesting against CAA. You can understand who they are.” Further, it is also being propagated that, the protests are being instigated by “Urban Naxals”. These statements are nothing but tactics to divert the issue. Let us have a look as to who are all protesting the CAA.

Ramachandra Guha, Historian and writer has been arrested at Bengaluru.

Yogendra Yadav. “For the first time after Independence, our citizenship is being linked to our religion.”

Chetan Bhagat, Writer – “CAAis a life jacket. But, Muslims don’t get the life jacket. Distributing life jackets is not the problem. Giving them only to a few and pushing everyone off the plane is the problem.”

Kamal Haasan, Actor. “Applaud with glee at the stupidity of the government for stoking the fire of Satyagraha by arresting the thinking and questioning minds of India like Ram Guha & Yogendra Yadav.”

Harbajan Singh, Cricketerhas expressed his shock for the attacks that have taken place on the students of Jamia Milia University. In the attacks, one student has lost his eye. “His crime is that he is a human”, said Harbajan Singh.

Priyanka Chopra, Celebrity.  “In a thriving democracy, to raise one’s voice peacefully and be met with violence is wrong. Every voice counts. And each voice will work towards changing India.”
