Resolution demanding immediate lifting the ban imposed on Compassionate Ground Appointments.
The BSNL Management imposed the ban on Compassionate Ground Appointments initially up to 31-03-2022. Thereafter, the BSNL Board has extended this ban on Compassionate Ground Appointments indefinitely. Through the VRS-2019, the BSNL Management has already retrenched 50% of the employees, numbering around 80,000. After such a massive retrenchment of employees under the VRS, there is absolutely no justification to continue with the ban on Compassionate Ground Appointments. This ban is causing extreme hardships to the families, which have lost their sole bread-winners in Covid -19 Pandemic. So far, 238 employees have fallen victims to Covid -19. It is the duty of the BSNL Management, to provide job to one of the family members of these Covid victims. Only by providing such an appointment under Compassionate Ground, can the financial hardships of those families be mitigated to a certain extent. In addition to this, many employees have died / are dying in accidents while performing their duties. It is the bounden duty of the BSNL Management to provide appointment to one of the family members of these victims. In view of this, the Central Executive Committee meeting of BSNLEU urges upon the BSNL Management to immediately lift the ban on Compassionate Grounds Appointments and to provide jobs to the families of the employees who died due to Covid-19 and also in accidents while on duty.
