Persons above 18 are free to choose their religion – Supreme Court on religious conversion.

A Supreme Court Bench, consisting of justices R.F. Nariman, B.R. Gavai and Hrishikesh Roy, ruled that, persons above 18 years of age are free to choose their religion. The Court dismissed the petition filed by one Ashwani Upadhyay, who sought directions for appointing a Committee to enact a 'Conversion of Religion Act' to stop Religious Conversion. The Court told the petitioner that, it can’t grant such a direction.
