National Convention of Workers held at New Delhi unanimously decided to organise General Strike on 20.05.2025..

10 Central Trade Unions viz., INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, LPF, UTUC, together with the Sectoral Trade Unions, organised an enthusiastic National Convention of Workers at New Delhi today.  The Convention started in Pyare Lal Bhawan at 11:00 am. The Presidents of all the 10 Central Trade Unions presided over the Convention. From the telecom sector, BSNLEU and NFTE participated in this Convention. All the General Secretaries of the 10 Central Trade Unions addressed the Convention and explained about the anti-worker and pro-corporate four Labour Codes. They also criticised the pro-corporate Neo-Liberal economic policies, being implemented by the Modi government. Speaker after speaker explained how the wealth of the nation is being allowed by the government to be looted by the corporates. They condemned the curtailment of the trade union rights of the workers by the Modi government. A four page declaration was unanimously passed by the Convention. The declaration unanimously demands immediate withdrawal of the anti-worker and pro-corporate four Labour Codes. It also demands immediate stoppage of privatisation / disinvestment of Public Sector Undertakings, payment of Rs.26,000/- as minimum wage, immediate conducting of the Indian Labour Conference and other demands. The Convention unanimously decided to organise a general strike throughout the country on 20.05.2025, demanding settlement of the charter of demands.
