National Convention of Workers decides to organise two day strike in February, 2022.
A National Convention of workers was held at Jantar Mantar today. In view of the COVID-19 restrictions, it was held with limited delegation. All the Presidents of the 10 Central Trade Unions presided over the Convention. General Secretaries / leaders of the Central Trade Unions, including Com.Ashok Singh (INTUC), Com.Amarjeet Kaur (AITUC), Com.H.S. Sidhu (HMS) and Com.Tapan Sen (CITU), addressed the Convention.
The leaders bitterly criticised the privatisation of the public sector, National Monetisation Pipeline, New Labour Codes, Pro-corporate Farm Acts, attacks on the democratic and civil rights, etc. The Convention has given call to organise demonstrations on 26th November, 2021, marking the completion of one year of Kisans' struggle. It has also called on for organising state level joint conventions, joint meeting of public sector unions and intensive campaign at the grass-root level, for successfully organising the two day General Strike, to be organised in February, 2022, during the Budget Session of the Parliament.
