Massive campaign programmes for the countrywide General Strike on 12th February are being organised by the West Bengal and Kolkata Telephones circle unions across all BAs and OAs. The circle leadership, including Com. Sisir Roy (Vice President, CHQ), Com. Sujoy Sarkar (CS, West Bengal), Com. Sankar Nepal (CS, Kolkata Telephones), Com. Omprakash Singh (AGS, AIBDPA), Com. Sanjeev Banerjee (AGS, AIBDPA), Com. Tapas Ghosh (CS, BSNLCMU), Com. Pradipta Ghosh (CS, CTTMU), and other leaders, are addressing meetings in various BAs and OAs. A good number of regular employees, pensioners, and casual contract workers have attended these meetings, ensuring strong momentum for the strike in the state. Campaign meetings have been organised in important districts and towns such as Alipore, Territee Bazar, Ballygange, Asansol, Siliguri, Malda, Bankura, Durgapur, Bardhaman, Jalpaiguri, and others. Key issues highlighted during the meetings include the anti-worker labour codes, 3rd PRC, attacks on PSUs, the affordability clause, retrenchment of contract workers, and DA arrears for casual labourers. Circle and district union leaders elaborated on these issues and called upon all workers to make the strike historic.
