Lakhimpur Kheri murder of farmers – Chief Justice of India says that the investigation is not going on well.

On 03.10.2021, Ashish Mishra, son of Ajay Mishra, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, hit his SUV on the peacefully agitating farmers at Lakhimpur Kheri, in Uttar Pradesh. Four farmers were crushed to death by the SUV. Totally, eight people were killed in this connection. So far, the UP police has not arrested Ashish Mishra, the murder accused. They have issued a summon to the murder accused, to appear in the police station. While hearing this case yesterday, Shri N.V. Ramana, the Chief Just of India, asked, is this the way to treat a murder accused? Shri N.V. Ramana, observed that the investigation is not going on well. He also expressed lack of faith in the police team handling the investigation and that, there is no point in keeping these officers. The Chief Justice of India, directed the DGP of Uttar Pradesh to ensure that the evidence in the case is not destroyed.
