K.G.Bose Memorial Trust organised online May Day meeting.
An online May Day meeting was organised yesterday, by the K.G.Bose Memorial Trust. The topic of the meeting was “May Day and the tasks before the trade union movement today”. 227 number of comrades attended this online meeting. Com.Animesh Mitra, President, BSNLEU, presided. The meeting started at 7:15 pm. Com.P.Abhimanyu, General Secretary, BSNLEU, addressed the meeting. He spoke on the history of the movement conducted by the American working class, to achieve the goal of 8 hours’ work, 8 hours’ sleep and 8 hours’ entertainment. He also explained about the atrocities let loose on the workers, by the American police at Hay Market, in Chicago, on 04th May, 1886 and praised the May Day martyrs, viz., Com.Parsons, Com.Engel Com. Spies and Com.Fischer, who were hanged for leading the struggle for 8 hours working day. The General Secretary told that, the pro-corporate policies of the government are resulting in concentration of wealth in the hands of the corporates and impoverishment of the working class. He concluded by saying that, an end should be put to the capitalist system, to liberate the working people from exploitation.
