General Secretary and Dy.General Secretary meet the CMD BSNL.

Com.P.Abhimanyu,GS and Com.Swapan Chakraborty,Dy.GS met Shri P.K.Purwar, CMD BSNL today and discussed the following issues:-

At the outset, the CMD BSNL congratulated BSNLEU for once again getting elected as the number one union in the recently held 8th Membership Verification. The GS and the Dy.GS thanked the CMD BSNL.

Harassment of 850 ST officials in Maharashtra circle.

BSNLEU has already taken up this issue. 850 ST officials, who have already completed 25/30 years of service, are being harassed by the Maharashtra circle administration. Based on a baseless complaint given by someone, the circle administration has told all these 850 ST officials, to appear before the Scrutiny Committee and obtain fresh cast certificates. According to the DoP&T rule, it is the duty of the Management to verify the genuineness of the caste certificate, with the state government officials. BSNLEU has already written a detailed letter to the CMD BSNL in this regard. Today, this issue was discussed prominently with the CMD BSNL once again. The CMD BSNL is fully convinced by our arguments. He called the the Director(HR) and told him to give necessary instruction to the Maharashtra circle administration, to follow the DoP&T order. The CMD BSNL categorically told that, the caste certificates should be verified only by the Management and that the ST officials should not be pressurised to obtain fresh caste certificates or appear before the Scrutiny Committee. BSNLEU heartily thanks the CMD BSNL for taking the correct stand on this issue.

Calling an all unions and associations meeting to discuss about BSNL’s financial condition.

The GS and the Dy GS requested the CMD BSNL to convene an all unions and associations meeting immediately, to discuss about the ways and means to improve the financial condition of the Company. They pointed out that such meetings were held earlier and that the practice should continue to ensure effective coordination between the Management and the employees. The CMD BSNL willingly accepted the proposal and assured to hold the meeting at the earliest.

Timely payment of Salary, for the month of September.

The GS and the Dy.GS requested the CMD BSNL to ensure timely payment of the salary for the month of September, since important festivals such as Pooja, Dussehra and Deepavali are falling in the month of October. The CMD BSNL told that the Company is under compulsion to make payment of outstanding electricity bills which come to around Rs.500 crore.
