Com. T. Gunaseelan, aged 42, working as contract worker under the SLA system, in Trichy BA of Tamil Nadu circle, got electrocuted and died on the spot, while on duty on 22.06.2020. He is survived by his wife, two children and aged parents. After postmortem his body was cremated on 23.06.2020. Not a single officer of BSNL attended his funeral, on the plea that he was an outsourced contract worker.  Not single paise was given to his family, even though he had worked many years for BSNL. The BSNL Management took an adamant and arrogant stand that, it is not the Principal Employer for those working in the SLA system.  The District and Circle Unions of BSNLEU and TNTCWU (BSNLCCWF) swung into action.
