The Executive Committee meeting of the Trade Union International (Transports, Ports, Fisheries & Communications) TUI(TPFC), was held online yesterday the 15.12.2021. The meeting started at 03:00 pm according to the Lisbon time. The agenda for the meeting was "Review of the activities in 2021 and Action Plan for 2022". Com.Ricardo Maldonado (Chile), President of the TUI (TPFC) presided over the meeting. Com.Ali Riza Kucukosmanoglu (Turkey), General Secretary of the TUI (TPFC) spoke on the developments that had taken place after the last meeting of the TUI (TPFC). Com.P.Abhimanyu, Convenor of the Communications Sector of the TUI (TPFC), reported on the pro-corporate measures taken by the government during the pandemic period, the repressive measures let loose against the working class, the enactment of the anti-worker Labour Codes, the historic struggle of the farmers and the decision of the Central Trade Unions to organise a two day general strike on 23rd & 24th February, 2022. Office bearers from different countries deliberated on the developments in their respective countries. In the discussions, what emerged is that, in all the capitalist countries, the COVID-19 pandemic situation has been used by the governments to let loose repressions against the working class and to implement pro-corporate policies. After deliberations, the meeting took the following decisions: -
(1) To resist the attacks and conspiracies against Palestine, Syria, Venezuela and Cuba, by the US imperialism.
(2) To extend support and solidarity to the two day general strike to be organised in India in February, 2022.
(3) To set up Regional Offices of the TUI (TPFC) in the Middle East and Africa.
(4) To hold another virtual meeting of the TUI (TPFC) at the end of January, 2022.
