Editorial of Tele Crusader on price rise.
The prices of all essential commodities like atta, cooking oil, etc., are sky- rocketing. As per the Times of India report, the wholesale price index inflation has reached a 31 year high. The prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas have also increased as never before. The government says that, the rise in the price of crude oil in the international market, due to the Russia-Ukraine war, is the reason for this. This is not true. The editorial explains how even when there was no war, the price of petrol and diesel in India were higher than the neighbouring countries like Sri Lanka, Nepal etc. The important reason is the exorbitant excise tax levied by the Indian government on petrol, diesel, etc. The editorial demands that government should take concrete steps to control the price rise.
