Com.Prabir Purkayastha, founder of News click, released by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court of India had ordered the release of Com.Prabir Purkayastha, the founder of News click, an online portal. The Court has stated that, his arrest was illegal as per law. Com.Prabir Purkayastha was arrested under the draconian UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act) and was kept in Tihar jail since 3rd October, 2023. The government had levelled a fabricated accusation against Com. Prabir Purkayastha that, he was receiving money from China and was using it for anti-national propaganda, through his digital media. It is important to mention here that, Com.Prabir Purkayastha was also jailed during the emergency, declared by Smt. Indira Gandhi. Com. Prabir Purkayastha is a progressive thinker, writer and is a bitter critique of the anti- people policies of the Modi government. BSNLEU heartily congratulates Com. Prabir Purkayastha.
