The whole Nation is paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi today. It was on this day in 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was shot dead by Nathuram Godse's three bullets. Mahatma Gandhi was a staunch Ram bhakt. Even when falling to the ground, after being hit by Nathuram godse's bullets, Mahatma Gandhi was saying " Hey Ram"- means "Oh! Lord Ram". While paying our respectful homage to Mahatma Gandhi, we should not forget why he was killed. Mahatma Gandhi was killed because he stood for Hindu - Muslim unity. Mahatma Gandhi advocated religious tolerance. He believed that, people belonging to all religions should live peacefully in this country. It is for this reason that, he was killed by a religious fanatic, Nathuram Godse. BSNLEU believes in the religious tolerance advocated by Mahatma Gandhi.
