BSNLEU conveys best wishes and warm greetings to all on the occasion of 73rd Republic Day.

India is celebrating its 73rd Republic Day tomorrow. Even though India gained independence from the British in 1947, it was only on January 26, 1950, that the Indian Constitution came into effect, and India became a Republic. Dr. BR Ambedkar headed the Drafting Committee of the Constitution. It is a matter of pride that, even after completion of 72 years, India continues to be a secular democratic republic. The founding fathers of independent India, especially Mahatma Gandhi, desired that the country should be a secular nation. However, it is a matter of serious concern that, the present day rulers seek to devide the people of India on communal lines. Further, democracy is also becoming a casualty, in the hands of the rulers. Sedition law and many other draconian laws are being used to suppress the people. While celebrating the 73rd Republic Day, let us stand up to uphold democracy, as well as the secular fabric of our Constitution. BSNLEU conveys best wishes and warm greetings to all on the occasion of 73rd Republic Day.
