BSNLEU CEC resolution demanding prompt action on the sexual harassment case of Ludhiana.
BSNLEU has umpteen times brought to the notice of the top Management of BSNL, about the harassments that are being meted out to the young women employees at Ludhiana. BSNLEU has emphatically told that, what is going on in Ludhiana is nothing but sexual harassment. Transfers and other forms of harassments are being inflicted on the young women employees at Ludhiana. All these harassments are aimed at forcing the young women employees to submit to the sexual desire of the top officer of the Ludhiana Telecom District. However, it is highly unfortunate that, the BSNL Management is remaining totally silent on the developments that are taking place at Ludhiana. The studied silence being maintained by the top management of BSNL has emboldened the perpetrator of the sexual harassment at Ludhiana. The top management of BSNL is duty-bound to implement the guidelines that have been laid down by the Apex court of the country, in providing safety to women employees in work places. However, it is unfortunate that, the BSNL Management has failed in this duty. The apathy and indifference of the top Management of BSNL has forced one young woman employee of Ludhiana to go indefinitely on leave, facing loss of pay. It is needless to state that, the woman employee has gone on such long leave on loss of pay, only to avoid the sexual harassment that she is faced with at Ludhiana. This incident alone speaks volumes about how unsafe is Ludhiana to the women employees. Certainly, the developments that are taking place at Ludhiana is a black mark on the image of the top management of BSNL.Hence , this Central Executive Committee meeting of BSNLEU, urges upon the BSNL Management, as well as the DoT, to take the needful remedial action immediately to ensure safety to women employees at Ludhiana.
