Applications for Higher Pension Rejected by EPFO, Hyderabad – BSNLEU CHQ seeks immediate intervention.

In the recent past, the Hon’ble Supreme Court has delivered a landmark judgment granting eligible employees the right to opt for Higher Pension on actual wages. In pursuance of the said judgment, the BSNL Management issued a circular calling for submission of applications for onward transmission to the EPFO authorities. It has now come to light that a number of applications submitted by eligible employees of the Telangana Circle have been rejected by the EPFO authority at Hyderabad, without assigning any clear or valid reasons. BSNLEU has strongly condemned this arbitrary action of the EPFO. Consequently, BSNLEU (CHQ) has addressed a letter to the Director (HR), BSNL Corporate Office, seeking immediate intervention to resolve the issue. The Union has categorically stated that Higher Pension based on actual wages is a legitimate right of employees, as already upheld by the Hon’ble Supreme Court. BSNLEU has urged the BSNL Management to take up the matter at the highest level with EPFO authorities. It is hoped that the BSNL Corporate Office will take prompt and effective steps to ensure that the benefit of Higher Pension is extended to all eligible staff without further delay.
