18th Congress of WFTU started.

The 18th Congress of the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) started at 12:30 pm (IST) today. This 4 day Congress is taking place at Rome, with the physical participation of only a limited number delegates, due to COVID-19. The remaining delegates are participating in this Congress online. Com.P.Abhimanyu,GS,BSNLEU, is participating online. The Congress started with the singing of the WFTU anthem. A minute’s silence is observed, to pay homage to the departed comrades.

 

Com.Mzwandile Makwayiba, president, WFTU, delivered a powerful presidential address, highlighting how the workers are being exploited worldwide, by the capitalists. The congress is continuing with leaders from various countries delivering their speech.
